About

The Higher Certificate is open to professionals who wish to further their knowledge in the areas of business, logistics, digitalisation and Sustainable supply chain management.
The course is designed for participants who currently work in the industry but do not have the necessary academic achievements to progress their career.
Students come from a variety of backgrounds across the logistics, supply chain and transport areas.
Lecturers are Industry Professionals who give real life case studies and examples during class as well as the academic knowledge to underpin learning experience.
The Higher Certificate is open to all individuals regardless of experience, we welcome those new to the industry looking to pursue a new career.
An Exit Award (Minor Certificate) is available to those who only complete Year 1.

On completion of Year 1 students may exit & receive a Certificate in Managing Sustainability in Transport and Logistics in Sustainable Supply chains, Digitalisation and Logistics (Minor Award - 60 Credits)

On completion of Year 2 students are awarded a Higher Certificate in Business in Sustainable Supply Chains, Digitalisation and Logistics (Major Award - 120 Credits).

Core Textbook for the program is The Handbook of Logistics and Distribution Management - Understanding The Supply Chain 7th ed. by Alan Rushton, Phil Croucher and Peter Baker. Published by Kogan Page 2022. A copy of the core text will be supplied to all students on the Higher Certificate.

FAQs

The Certificate course registration fee is €2600 per year, Payment in full before the 1st August will enable an early payment discount of 10%. This reduces the fees to €2340. Part Payments CILT can facilitate part payments, but all fees should be paid in full before the start date. Where fees are not fully paid before the start date, all part payments will be refunded, except for the €250 deposit. Instalments can be paid by direct debit (Contact CILT.IE), by Standing Order or by Debit/Credit Card. Limited subsidised (30) places are available via CILT Mobility & Supply Chain Skillnet for candidates living in Ireland - CILT Mobility & Supply Chain Skillnet, Higher Certificate support. Pay deposit of €250.00 to register on the Course and secure the place, pay the balance €2350 before the start date of the course, or pay the balance of the early payment fee (€2090) before the 1st August. Blended Learning for this course is a mix of online class lectures on Monday & Wednesday evenings plus materials and notes that can be viewed via SETU's Blackboard learning platform. Blackboard is a virtual learning environment and learning management system that is accessed online. All communication; lecture notes, lecture communication, upload of assignments, module results etc. is via Blackboard. You receive a password to log onto the online system from The Education Team. CILT will also arrange a student knowledge day during term on campus in SETU that all students are encouraged to attend.

Yes, all notes for subjects will be available to you via Blackboard. Please note: the ONUS IS ON YOU as a student to complete self-study for the time you miss. Some (not all) recorded lectures will also be available on Blackboard. Due to privacy and data protection recording of live lectures is a decision for the individual tutor (and the students) and they may choose not to record part or all of a lecture to facilitate a fuller contribution from all students. Therefore we advise strongly that you atttend live lectures wherever possible and use recordings for revision.

Firstly, we understand all our students are adults with responsibilities, sickness can happen, family commitments, full time jobs etc. Life can get in the way of study. Please get in touch with us and tell us your concerns. We will work with you and come up with a plan see you through.

The Academic Year is when you are studying and in class, for the Higher Certificate: The semesters are September to December and January to June A full timetable of classes and holidays will be provided at induction. Assignment deadlines are at the discretion of the individual tutor, however we do try to ensure that they are evenly distributed to reduce pressures on students wherever possible. Please note: Due to unforeseen circumstances classes can change and may have to be re-scheduled on alternative dates.

The Higher Certificate Course will run onliine, CILT will arrange one in-person seminar day for guest lecturers and networking.

We welcome all adults to the course who have an interest in logistics, transport and supply chain. We are here to assist you in your learning journey and give you opportunities to meet companies at events and via weekly communication. Our requirement for the course is Leaving Certificate (or equivalent from other countries). We also recognise ‘RPL’ Recognition of Prior Learning for students who may have many years experience however may not have completed secondary education. The QQI Level 6 Higher Certificate is a part time course and so does NOT Qualify for a student visa.

Yes, you can claim 20% tax relief on the TWO YEAR QQI LEVEL 6 HIGHER CERTIFICATE under the following rules: The Two Year Part Time SETU Level 6 Higher Certificate Course for tax relief must be two years in duration (if you only intend on completing one year, Revenue do not allow tax relief). As this is a Part Time Course under Revenue rules, the first €1,500 is a disregarded amount e.g.: €2,600 (fee per year) minus €1,500 (Revenue disregarded amount) = €1100 20% of €1100 = €220 per year of tax relief For more information please see the Revenue website.
